Daily Schedule

Over the course of the week, choristers settle into a daily routine which begins with a healthy breakfast before walking to the chapel for sung Morning Prayer. Sectional and full group rehearsals follow before lunch. The afternoon typically includes tracks or liturgy class and a time of recreation and preparation for the evening's activities. Each day culminates back in the chapel to close the day with compline sung by a special choir of course participants and faculty.

Tracks & Classes

Each chorister will choose a track to specialize in throughout the course of the week. Past tracks have included compline choir, vocal technique,  descant writing, beginning and advanced handbells, drum circle, and lectoring. All choristers will also join the liturgy class taught by our course chaplain where they'll have the opportunity to explore and ask questions about the services and traditions that we experience during the week.

Social Events & Recreation

To balance out all of the hard work in rehearsals, each day includes recreational and social events including beach trips, a walk on Newport's famous Cliff Walk, the course talent show and opportunities to tour several of Rhode Island's historic sites.

Housing

Choristers are housed in double and triple dormitory-style rooms. Boys and girls are housed on separate floors and roommates are assigned by age group. We make every effort to accommodate roommate requests but cannot guarantee your request. Each chorister is provided a bed, pillow, dresser and desk. Please bring sheets, pillow case, towels and toiletries with you. For more information, please see our list of what to pack.
